About the Bojangles Foundation

Established on July 6, 2022, for Bojangles’ 45th anniversary, the Bojangles Foundation reflects our deep commitment to the communities we serve. As a component fund of Foundation For The Carolinas, we focus on supporting three civic pillars: literacy, military and first responders, and strengthening communities.

Our mission is to positively impact the communities we serve every day through by partnering with organizations dedicated to increasing literacy, honoring military members and first responders, and supporting hometown community efforts. Since 2022, we’ve seen:

Through partnerships with local schools and nonprofits, the Bojangles Foundation Fund has donated more than 50,000 books to children and families across our communities.

José Armario has been chief executive officer and president of Bojangles', Inc., a restaurant operator and franchisor, since January 2019. Armario has 38 years of senior leadership experience with such brands as Burger King, LensCrafters and McDonald’s. He retired as executive vice president of worldwide supply chain, development, and franchising of McDonald’s Corporation in October 2015, after having held that position since August 2011. In addition to his position within the Bojangles Foundation, Armario is a member of the board of directors for Golden State Foods and Bojangles', Inc., a member of the President’s Council of the University of Miami and a director for Receptions for Research: The Greg Olsen Foundation.

Ken Reynolds is the Director of Corporate and Community Affairs with Bojangles’ Restaurants, Inc. His primary role with the iconic southern restaurant brand is to evaluate, negotiate and recommend partnerships that are in line with the company’s mission and core values as well as community service outreach supporting the brands community service plan. Ken has been employed with Bojangles’ for 29 years and has served in multiple roles of increasing responsibility within the Marketing & Insights Department. Before his career at Bojangles he was a full-time business technology instructor for 10 years.

Jason Marion began his career as a QA Technician for the Mondo Baking Co. He later accepted positions within the company’s production division where he held various roles in supervision, special projects, line start-ups, and shift management. During this time, he helped plan and organize the successful launch of seven new products for Kellogg’s, Nabisco, and Kraft Foods. Marion later joined Summit Hill Foods (Southeastern Mills, Inc.) as a Process Manager where he led the production teams to significant improvements through training, effective communication, planning, and employee involvement. Soon after, he joined Summit Hill’s Human Resources division as a manager and was eventually promoted to Director and Vice President roles within the department. Marion has been a HPWP (High Performance Work Place) advocate for the past 27 years and has taught this philosophy within his roles and as a guest speaker at SHRM and APICS conventions, colleges and universities, and other leadership forums. He has co-authored multiple culture and performance improvement case studies for professional development and MBA programs, and he is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a BS in Food Science.

In 2021, Stacey McCray joined Southern fast-food chain Bojangles, where she is responsible for driving the organization’s internal and external communications strategy and overseeing execution of that strategy with executive leadership, employees and agencies. McCray has more than 20 years of communications experience, 17 of those with the Bojangles’ public relations agency of record – Luquire. McCray built an impressive portfolio during her time at Luquire that included helping promote Charlotte’s hosting of the 2012 Democratic National Convention and overseeing high-profile campaigns for Belk, Snyder’s-Lance, National Gypsum, UNC Charlotte and many others. Previously, McCray was the director of public relations for Johnson C. Smith University and an external communications supervisor for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She holds a master’s degree in public relations from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Wake Forest University.

Ash Dinakaran has been a Bojangles franchisee owner since 2004. He owns and operates more than 40 Bojangles restaurants across Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia, and continues to expand his territory. He was awarded the distinct honor of being named Bojangles Franchisee of the Year – 2022. Dinakaran is also a member of the Bojangles Franchise Advisory Council (2020 – present), the Bojangles Foundation Fund Board of Trustees and the Dorothy Entrepreneurship Advisory Board of Trustees for Elon University (2018 – present). He has been in business for 32 years, and 19 years of that time has been with Bojangles. Dinakaran is a former student-athlete at Coastal Carolina University, playing number one in collegiate tennis.

As an aggressive leader in the banking industry, Mark Kiskunas has worked for several large financial institutions with specialties in commercial, corporate, and franchisee lending. He began his career at Nations Bank, now Bank of America, as a senior credit underwriter. After five years, he left Nations Bank to join RBC Centura as a Market Executive responsible for development and growth of the Myrtle Beach Grand Strand and Florence, SC, markets. He found his passion in both finance and development when he joined Bojangles franchisee Bo Benton in 2002. In 2020, Kiskunas become sole owner & president of Bo Benton and currently owns and operates 12 Bojangles restaurants in the Florence/Myrtle Beach market of South Carolina with plans for future growth. He believes that building community relationships is crucial to any business’ success, which is why he leads his team in supporting community-focused initiatives. Kiskunas is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration.
